We went here one morning for breakfast and you could tell it was a great place by the fact that there were almost no tables left and it was off- season. I had a great breakfast sandwich and the price was exactly right. this was a nice place to bring my 19 month old daughter since it's not a quiet place that she would need to sit still at, she toddled all around

• Great small town restaurant
Marshland Restaurant is a small restaurant in downtown Sandwich. There are booths and a counter you can sit at. A lot of local people go to eat breakfast here. It feels just like a small place from TV where everyone knows each other. They have awesome breakfast items. I have a hard time deciding what to order every time I go. The wait staff is great and the food is inexpensive.

• One of the best if not the best. Every time we visit the Cape (about 2-3 times a year) we make it a point to eat at the Marshland restaurant as many times as possible during our visit. If we lived there we would probably eat there every night for dinner. I would like to know if they would send me their recipe for stuffed quahogs; they are the very best we have ever had. You've Got to Try It
Nothing like going to a comfortable restaurant with great food and reasonable prices. Plan on bringing home a doggie bag. You'll never finish what they give you. Everything I've had there is excellent. Great clam chowder! [13 Jun 2006 16:53:07]

Recommended Dishes: mac and fish (like "Fish n Chips" only with Macaroni & Cheese, homemade like everything there.)

Excellent
I worked for Skip, Marty and Kim for approximately 2 years. Can tell you first hand they know how to feed you and make you feel like one of the family. Great food and awesome desserts. Everything is homemade and it's very affordable. Try it once and you'll return. P.S. take home a quart of their award winning chowder; it's the best. [11 Jan 2007 19:31:05]

Fodor's Review:
Sandwich's version of down-home is this homey coffee shop tucked into a parking lot. For breakfast try an Italian omelet, a rich mix of Italian sausage, fresh vegetables, and cheese. The lunch specials -- a grilled chicken club sandwich, the Cobb salad, a turkey Reuben, a daily quiche, and the like -- are the best choices midday, and for dinner the prime rib does not disappoint.

We often drive from Buzzards Bay, cross the bridges, just to go to Marshland. We live near Lindsay's, Barnacle Bills, and Baileys and choose to make the drive to Marshland. We have found the dishes to be very generous and well prepared. Several of the waitresses have been there over the many years that we have been going. We believe that one of the owners is a cook in the kitchen and very conscious of the quality of food served.
My favorite is the half-pound cheese burger. Comes with fries. But often I will get lured by one of the daily specials off the blackboard.
We usually stop in the bakery on the way out for several cookies to take home. One of the ladies in the bakery has worked there for roughly 40 years!
We have taken many friends and family members to Marshlands. In each case they enjoyed it as much as we did. We have NEVER had a bad meal there!
Bring cash ... I don't think they take plastic. If you forget, there is a Bank of America ATM right next door. The two of us usually get out of there for comfortably under $20.

If I could have breakfast here every day, I would. The wait for the weekends it a little long, but if you go early enough, it's alright. I love their french toast with fresh fruit. The raspberry butter looked like sorbet! It was excellent. The eggs benedict is also delicious.
The dinners are very nice too. My family has a once or twice a month "movie night" and this place is a favorite for take out. We just call up, place our order, and it's ready in about 20 minutes.
They take cash only, so be prepared when you go!

Original Marshland Restaurant and Bakery, Rt. 6a: Good, moderately priced food in Sandwich.
We’ve eaten at the Marshland Restaurant and Bakery a few times and we’ve liked it every time.
It’s a diner-type of place with half a dozen tables and more than a dozen stools at two counters. (Editor's Note: many more tables at the larger Marshland Too on Cotuit Road!).
The menu offers a nice selection including hamburgers and sandwiches, a variety of salads, numerous hot entrees such as prime rib, meatloaf, sirloin steak, grilled chicken, baked scrod and roast turkey.
I had the grilled turkey reuben and fish and chips and liked them both.
Vegetarian
My girlfriend had a vegetarian taco salad (once with onion rings on top, suggested by the waitress) and liked it both times.
Speaking of vegetarian, in addition to salads there is a vegetable stir fry, hummus wrap and Middle East wrap.
There’s also a kid’s menu, that we didn’t sample! In addition, there’s an extensive breakfast menu but we’ve never gotten up early enough to partake of it.
Pricing
Marshland is very moderately priced. Hamburgers and sandwiches are about $5 - $6.50, and there are less expensive items.
Entrees range from about $6 to $12 and can be a dollar or two cheaper for lunch.
Warning: Marshland does not accept credit cards. I don’t know if it accepts personal checks.
Try the bakery
A bakery is attached to the restaurant and the selections are really tasty. I’m a big fan of the chocolate chip muffins but they sell out early.
(Indeed, good muffins sell out early in many Cape Cod restaurants known for muffins, such as Jack’s Outback restaurant in Yarmouth Port, Mass.).
Varieties
The Marshland bakery offers a variety of muffins, cookies and inexpensive baked goods.
If you’re looking for a moderately priced restaurant that offers a nice selection of food for everyone plus bakery treats, try the Marshland.
It’s not gourmet, it’s just good food.
